Texas Holds the Lead At Western Intercollegiate As Round 2 Suspended

SANTA CRUZ, Calif., April 13, 2022 - With winds continuing to cause havoc, the second round of the 75th Western Intercollegiate presented by Topgolf and Titleist caused long delays and forced a suspension for the second consecutive day.

Two members of Washington’s final group will finish their round on Wednesday morning before third round split tee times begin at 7:30 a.m. PT at the Pasatiempo Golf Club.

Ninth-ranked Texas (727) holds the team lead over No. 8 Pepperdine (731) by four strokes. The Longhorns carded the best round of the day at 6-over 356 among the 14 participating teams.

San Diego State (744) is in third followed by Arizona (749) and Washington.

Individually, Colorado State’s Rasmus Hjelm holds the clubhouse lead after a 1-under 69 in round two. The sophomore is 1-under for the tournament after carding even par in his opening round.

Texas’ Pierceson Coody and Pepperdine’s Dylan Menante each shot 72 and are 2-over 142 for the tournament and tied for second place. A group of three golfers including Texas’ Cole Hammer are tied for fourth at 3-over 143.

Mason Nome of Texas shot the round of the tournament thus far with a 4-under 66 to move up the leaderboard into seventh place at 4-over 145.
